Originally reported by Gerald Oldham in 1989, who indicated that there were 15 graves, 11 of which were marked by fieldstones. Investigated by John Clauser for Chatham Downs in 2004; registered 31CH801 in NC State Office of Archeology. Clauser also reported 15 graves; 12 with fieldstone markers and an area possibly containing additional infant graves. Bev Wiggins reported in Aug 2010 that graves appear to extend into the cleared area on the north side of the cemetery, just above the cut-away section for the road. CCHA recommended that the site be fenced to prevent damage during landscape maintenance. In April 2013 the property owner erected a post and chain fence to delineate the site.
Descendant Rachel Kirby Parrish reports that this is the family cemetery of Ausborne and Biddie Kirby who lived directly across what is now 15-501 from the cemetery. There are no inscribed stones in the cemetery. In September 2010, Rachel Kirby Parrish provided the names of 9 persons buried in the cemetery. Most of these burials were recorded in the bible of her father, Foy Parrish Kirby, who was the grandson of Ausborne Kirby. According to Rachel Kirby Parrish, Biddie Riggsbee married Stanley Dodd and moved to TN. They had two children and Stanley died. Biddie's brother Atlas Riggsbee went to TN to bring her home. She subsequently married Ausborne Kirby.
