This is a lost church. The first remaining record of the church dates from 1268 but it is entirely possible that it could have been established much earlier. It was situated within the cemetery of Worcester Cathedral. Originally know as St. Michael the Archangel, more commonly known as Mt. Michael in Bedwardine it encompassed the Cathedral Churchyard, the Bishop's Palace and the Charnel House to the north, the castle and it's hill and precincts running south down to the River Severn. It was recorded as containing "99 houses and 622 inhabitants" One suggestion the name Bedwardine was derived from the Saxon words beod & worthig meaning table-farm or table field meaning this Parish had the prime responsibility of providing the monastery with bread. The church was demolished in 1843. A replacement church with the same name was built on the opposite side of College Street, but fell into disuse and it too was demolished in 1965.
