Add PhotosThe church was founded in 1830 by local residents that included world famous Doctor Ephraim McDowell and Isaac Shelby, Kentucky's first governor, among others.
The church was destroyed by a fire which occurred on February 21, 1860 that also consumed a large portion of downtown Danville.
After the fire, parishioners used the remaining walls to rebuild the church, but altered the design to resemble a Gothic Revival structure, as it still exists today.
