About half a mile from Talbotton city limits, on GA Hwy 208 West, and after crossing Edwards Creek, a weathered concrete silo towers atop a hill on the north side of the road. It is in the 16th Land District Talbotton G.M.D. 685. Downhill from the silo, Edwards Creek...was sometimes called Wilson's Creek in the old days...separated the plantation of the Rev. James DeKalb Wilson on his east boundary from the property of "General" Marion Bethune. The silo remains from a dairy and peach orchard development by the Pearsons family of Talbotton, during the early 1900s. Beyond the silo, barns and sheds, an old "shotgun style" house was removed to the site of the Wilson plantation house. The Upper Waverly Hall Road branches to the right. Past the intersection, a slave cabin stood on a high bank until about six years ago [~1978]...{T]he Wilson Family Cemetery, [is] near the front and west of the house...The executor of the Rev. Wilson's estate erected an iron fence, in a simple spear pattern, with a "Wilson" plaque on the gate, around the cemetery plot. The author saw it on an early exploratory Rockaway trip to Talbot County. It was in poor condition, and no markers were inside the enclosure. Since that time, the fence has vanished and the place leveled. [~1983]" -- "A Rockaway In Talbot, Vol. I" (Davidson).
