In 1701 the Quakers of Worcester outgrew their Meeting House in Friar St and bought land at Sansome Field which then was just outside the city walls. They built a new Meeting House with surrounding space for a burial ground. There are no records of any burials for the first thirty years.
The 1st burial ground (1732 -1850), and later called "the Old Graveyard" is now beneath the current Meeting House car park- Plots A.1 – J.15.
A larger area was opened up in 1770, although the burial register records that Ann Becket was the first to be buried in the "NewBurial Ground" in 1769. This 2nd burial ground (1770 – 1852) has plots K.1 – R.12. This area is in front
of the Meeting House with part under the London Plane tree. There are no memorial stones but the occupants are undisturbed.
The 3rd burial ground ( 1855 – 1993) is to the left of the path
leading up to the meeting House from Sansome Place. There are a few memorial stones but most graves are unmarked – Plots S.1 – ZB.10)
