PLEASE NOTE: This is a photo of the Christian Church Cemetery, not of Milan-Union Cemetery. This photo (ca. 1990) was taken from the site of the Milan Christian Church, looking towards the Old Burying Ground, now a part of the Christian Church Cemetery, across the road from Milan Union Cemetery. The burying ground predated the formation of the Milan Christian Church by at least 30 years. Azalea Clizbee made an inventory of the cemetery in 1906. At that time the earliest burial seemed to have been Phebe, the 2 yr old daughter of Ephraim Herrick. However, several of the families interred here settled in the area during or shortly after the Revolutionary War. Therefore, it is likely that there are some 18th Century burials here.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a photo of the Christian Church Cemetery, not of Milan-Union Cemetery. This photo (ca. 1980) is of the old section of what is now called the Milan Christian Church Cemetery, which lies on the opposite side of Milan Hollow Rd. (northeast) from the newer Milan-Union Cemetery. This section has also been called the Old Milan Burying Ground. The cemetery was in existence before the Milan Christian Church, which would have once stood off to the left of this photo, directly opposite the newer cemetery (which was begun around 1850).

This was once known as the Milan Christian Burial Grounds but today it is recognized as the Milan Union Cemetery. This picture was taken in 2012 and was accurate at that time. It is not accurate currently and I am currently trying to delete it.
