The church of St. Andrew the Great, on St. Andrew's street, is opposite Christ's College.

It is a building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles and an embattled western tower, with pinnacles, containing eight bells. In the church is a mural monument to Captain James Cook, the circumnavigator of the world.

There is a War Memorial in the old churchyard honoring a list of World War I soldiers killed in action. It reads:

Remember the brave men
of St Andrew the Great
fought and died
for King and Country
in the Great War
1914 – 1919.
