After attending High School in Texas, she returned to Georgia to attend Spelman College. She graduated Spelman in the class of 1948. She then attended Columbia University in New York where she received a Masters degree in music.
She returned again to Georgia to teach at Spelman. After instructing at Spelman for a few years, she moved back to Texas, where she married Milton P. Crook, Jr. During this period she became a public school teacher in Beaumont, Texas. Jacqueline and Milton were later blessed with a son.
In 1973, Jacqueline along with her family returned once more to Georgia. She and her family united with the Union Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member.
While husband Milton taught at Atlanta University, Jacqueline taught in the Atlanta Public Schools District.
In 1993 she was preceded in death by her husband Milton. She retired and decided to substitute teach the next few years.
Jacqueline peacefully departed this life on December 5, 2019. Jacqueline is survived her son, Rodney Crook; sister, Ann Larkins; brother, Dr. Alvin Larkins, a host of loving neices, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
