AGED LABORER
DROPPED DEAD

William Gross, employed as a laborer at the East Mines storage yards of the Reading Co. shops, dropped dead while returning to the yards at noon after eating his dinner.

Gross was 62 years of age, and lived at the village of North America. He is survived by a widow.

Dr. Rogers, the Deputy Coroner, went to East Mines and made an investigation the body being held until his arrival.

The deputy coroner was informed on arrival at the storage yard that Gross was found dead in the northwestern part of the yard at 12:15 o'clock. He had fallen forward when attacked by the sudden spell of illness and his head struck a large piece of iron inflicting a wound, but the real cause of death was disease of the heart.

The body was taken to the home of the family 850 Water St. Jalappa, Pottsville, also known as North America. Besides the widow a daughter survives. Mr. Gross is said to have been a soldier of the Civil War.
