Wayne was the third of five children born to William and Rosa (Butterfield) Schultze.

He married Lavon Huntress on February 12, 1949. They met through Wayne’s older brother, Gordon.

Before he was married, he served in the U.S. Army. During World War II, he fought overseas in France. He was honorably discharged due to injuries sustained during combat.

Wayne was all about having a good laugh and enjoying life. He loved playing softball, alongside his oldest son, in a local recreational league. When softball was over, he was watching football. His team of choice was the Washington Redskins.

When you’d enter his garage, you would see posters of Marilyn Monroe and Zsa Zsa Gabor on the walls. Country Western music was what you would hear playing in the background. He was a collector of beer steins and a variety of guns. He loved camping and dirt bike riding in the California desert with family and friends.

Wayne was fortunate to be able to earn a living based on his love of a hobby. He was a welder for over 50 years, owning his own business for much of that time. He particularly enjoyed building utility and bike trailers. During most of his career, iron fencing and security doors were in high demand. Give him some metal and he would create something wonderful. Give him a piece of wood and he was clueless.

He was a member of the local VFW and the Moose Lodge. He was a jokester and always had a smile on his face.

Wayne passed away suddenly, leaving behind his wife, children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His garage is now quiet. The twangs of country music are no more. The welding machine became dusty and forgotten. The sound of Wayne’s laughter is only a memory.

Rest in Peace.
