However, James is a brickwall. He has not been identified as being a member of any of the Linn/Lynn families in Pennsylvania at the time of his birth, including by the lady who is credited with "writing the book" on the Pennsylvania families. One descendant who has DNA tested did not match any known members of those families. To the best of present knowledge, he has no living direct-male-line descendants, so Y-DNA testing is not available.
If you know ANYTHING about James' ancestry, or even if you just think you might have something, PLEASE contact the manager of this memorial. Thank you!
James and Jerusha had 8 presently known children: Joseph, Hannah Amandy (Linn) Tobias, James B, Alonzo, Melissa, Harriet P, John, and Lewis Giddings. A boy, Fred Linn, born about 1861, is shown in the 1870 US federal census as a son. However, he is shown in the 1875 New York State census as Fred Parmer, a grandson. Several of James and Jerusha's children spelled their surname Lynn.
