FREDERICK HAUPT

Frederick ""Fritz"" Haupt, age 78, of 2350 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, entered eternal rest unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 9, 2006, while visiting at his brother Elroy's residence in Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 7531 English Lake Road, Newtonburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Victor Headrick with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Fritz was born Oct. 5, 1927, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Erhardt and Erna Pleuss Haupt. Fritz was a graduate of Lincoln High School, with the class of 1945. He was a licensed chef and was employed at Dill's English Lake Resort for many years. He was also employed at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1947.

On Sept. 20, 1952, he married Bette J. Dill at Wesley United Methodist Church in Manitowoc.

In 1992 he retired from the foundry and enjoyed traveling in his retirement. Fritz was well known for making quilts for many, many people. He was on the board of directors at Lakefield Telephone Company for many years holding the position of President at the time of his death. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving as the church treasurer for many years along with other various capacities with the church and school, and he always filled in wherever help was needed.

Fritz is survived by his wife of 53 years: Bette; one sister and brother-in-law: Ramona and James Madson, Manitowoc; two brothers: Elroy Haupt, Manitowoc; James Haupt, Two Rivers; one sister-in-law: Salome Haupt, Manitowoc; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Robert and Jinny Dill, Florida; three special aunts: Viola Rusch, Kathleen Kimmes, Florence Pleuss, all of Manitowoc; many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Erhardt and Erna (Pleuss) Haupt; one brother: Robert Haupt; one sister-in-law: Hilda Haupt.

Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and then Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for St. John's Lutheran School, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or the donor's choice. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water Street, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Fritz will be sadly missed by his entire family and many friends. His kindness will always be remembered by everyone.
