Mrs. Catherine Wallander, 88, of 3515 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, died at 8 p. Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a brief illness. She had been a patient there one week. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, the Rev Henry Arens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wallander was born Catherine Remiker July 10, 1872, in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late John and Barbara Tuschel Remiker. She was married to Joseph Wallander Oct 8, 1900 at St. Patrick Catholic church, Maple Grove, Manitowoc County. He preceded her in death approximately 30 years ago. The couple farmed in the Town of Cato until 1930, when it retired and mvoed to Reedsville. She had been living in recent years with her daughter at Manitowoc. Mrs. Wallander was an honorary member of St. Ann Altar Society and Christian Mothers Society of St Mary Catholic church at Reedsville and Clarks Mills. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Clarence on the home farm at Rt 2 Reedsville and Raymond of Rt 2 Reedsville, a daughter, Mrs. Sherman Lorrigan, of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
