Sarah was the daughter of Adam Shier and Charlotte Switzer of 9 children.
Sarah married James Conn when she was 28 yrs old in 1880. They had two sons William Albert Conn and Robert Adam. James died in 1884 at the age of 39. 10 yrs after Sarah married David kirk this same year they obtained a homestead in the Chuma district of Hamiota Manitoba.
