Death was due to a gun shot wound inflicted on January 17... He was rushed to the McKeesport hospital and for a time it was believed that he would not live until morning. However, he rallied and seemed to gain strength. Then he took a turn for the worse and, ever since, his condition had been very serious, with little hope of recovery... The funeral will take place tomorrow (Saturday) from the Holy Name Catholic church... the remains will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Mr Duffy, the unfortunate victim of the shooting, was a son of Mrs. Mary Duffy and the late Bernard Duffy. He was born in Pittsburg and was aged 28 years. He was married and resided with his wife and one child on South Fourth Street. (from the obituary published in the Duquesne Times, March 17, 1916) Note: his second son, James A Duffy was born July 16, 1916 he is buried St Mary's McKeesport. Survivors included his brothers and sisters Edward, Joseph, Katherine, and Margaret Duffy (married Thomas Hines Graham) and Mary Duffy Wiebelt.
