--Information from the History of Tift County by Ida Belle Williams, C. 1948 by the Tift County Historical Society and reprinted by W H Wolfe Associates of Atlanta in 1979, page 411. "He was one of 8 children born to Luther M and Martha Williams Harman.
W. L. Harman was graduated from Emory College, Oxford with and A. B degree and taught school in Washington and Chipley Georgia. While in Chipley, he married Miss Irene Floyd in June of 1892 and had two children, both of whom died in infancy. In 1898 he headed the Tift Academy. On June 10, 1908 he married a widow, Mrs. Hariett Goodman Evans, daughter of Tifton's, Dr. Charles Goodman. They had 3 sons: Charles Goodman, Eugene who died in infancy and and Allen.
Mr. W.L Sr was elected superintendet of Tift county Schools, but was in an automobile accident in 1933. Mr. Harmon was a steward of the Tifton Methodist church and the Valdosta District. He held many church offices, was a Mason and a Shriner.
Later he developed pneumonia which was fatal.
