He graduated from Burlington High School in 1936.
Mr. Cline was in the Navy Reserves from 1938 until 1942 and a WW II Veteran of the Army from 1943 until 1945. He was a Master Tool and Die Maker for TRW and several other companies until his retirement in 1985.
He was a life member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge #579. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and helping others. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita M. (Keith) Howard of Middletown, Iowa and Karen K. (Jerry) Von Behren of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Thomas W. (Shirley) Cline of Arvada, CO and Michael C. (Barbara Work) Cline of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kristina Vance, Beth (Matt) Trexel, Brandon Howard, Sean Tansey, Cody and Cory Cline; two step grandchildren, Amber Rego and Jamie (Jason) Humphrey; three great grandchildren, Steven, Autumn and Mitchell Trexel; and eight step great grandchildren, Michael and Israel Villareal and Tyler Rodriguez, Ariel Voit, Zach and Tyler Akau, Kaylee and Riley Humphrey; one brother Arlo W. (Winifred) Cline of Bettendorf, Iowa; two half brothers, Robert (Ronna) Cline of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and James Cline of Mason City, Iowa and one half sister, Connie (Gary) Smith of Rochester, Minnesota; stepmother, Marjorie Rush of Rochester, Minnesota; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His wife, parents and two grandchildren, Lisa and Scott Howard preceded him in death.
