Lawrence John Long, age 83, of 4998 Townline Road, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, passed away May 24, 1999 at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.
He was born July 18, 1915 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Ferdinand and Mary (Rokuskie) Long. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School.

On January 23, 1943, he married Grace Krueger. She preceded him in death on June 15, 1996. He enjoyed fishing and hunting around Door County.

As a young man, Lawrence was an engineer and sailed on the Great Lakes. He continued farming while he was employed at Bay Ship Building, where he retired as foreman in 1978. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute.

Lawrence is survived by one son David (Patricia) of Mounds View, Minnesota;
one daughter Dianne (Arthur) Hartmann of Greenfield, WI;
five granddaughters: Shelley and Brenda Long; Tracey, Sharee and Kristy Hartmann;
one brother George Long of Washburn, WI;
one sister Ann Simon of Green Bay, WI;
one sister-in-law Rosemarie Long of Sturgeon Bay, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Grace, two brothers Raymond and Philip.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Garylewski O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name of Mary Cemetery in Maplewood. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 pm Thursday at Davis Mortuary and at the church until the time of services
