Veronica was born on Dec. 12, 1900, at Town Cross, Wisc. the third of six children born to Christian "Chris" and Christine (nee Pedrett) Conrad. In 1907 she moved with her family from Fountain City, Wisc., to the Boorman area where she started school. In 1910, her family moved to the Batavia area where they were involved in ranching. She spent many of her younger years helping with the cooking in nearby logging camps. On Dec. 22, 1928, she was united in marriage to James Alexander Hanson in Kalispell, Mont. When they were first married , they lived in Marion, where they were involved in logging. In 1932 they moved to the Stillwater Community, northeast of Kalispell, where they were involved in farming. They had three children. Veronica was active in beginning the Sparks Sparklets 4-H Club, and contributed a lot to 4-H for many many years. She was also a member of the Stillwater Grange, the Merry Matron's Homemakers Club, and the Stillwater Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Christine; her husband, James, in August of 1972; two sisters, Anna Everett and Hattie Knutson; and three brothers, Ed, Norman and Werner Conrad. She is survived by two sons; a daughter; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Veronica passed away on Wenesday, Sept. 13, 1995, at Brendon House in Kalispell, Montana.
