He survived the 1906 earthquake and was a stockholder for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, which he attended with his family. He took over 260 photos at the fair during his 14 visits.
He retired in 1931 after 42 years of service and was given a gold watch as a retirement gift.
