On November 12, 1960, Harold married the former Laurain Groelle at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Harold worked the family farm for 50 years, drove truck for Elm Park Farms for 14 years and also had his own milk route for Borden's Milk. He was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and past member of the church board. Harold was also a member of the American Polled Hereford Association, Holstein Cattle Association, Belgium Draft Horse Association, Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association, Lakeshore Two-Cylinder Club and the Manitowoc Hammond Organ Club. Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, horse auctions and going to parades with his Belgium horses and mules.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Laurain Borgwardt, Newton; one daughter and son-in-law: Nancy Ann (John) Anderson, Yelm, WA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Doris Borgwardt, St. Nazianz; Eunice Wellner, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Chris Borgwardt; four brothers and one sister-in-law: Elroy (Lucinda) Borgwardt; Carl Borgwardt; John Borgwardt; Walter Borgwardt; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ida (Martin) Luebke; Esther (Willard) Commings; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ruben and Olga Groelle.
