Ellen was born in Anthony, Kansas, to the late Lawrence and Mable (Smith) Denton. She graduated from Anthony High School and went on to attend St. Francis Nursing School as part of the government's nurses training program during World War II. Following World War II, she served in polio clinics throughout the United States. Ellen went into professional nursing in the Houston area, following her final Polio Clinic post, where she met her future husband, Bobby Warren. They married on St. Patrick's Day in 1961. Ellen continued to work in nursing throughout her life and retired from A.P. Beutel Health Center at Texas A&M University.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan and during her later years, Ellen enjoyed worshiping through televised church services. Ellen also enjoyed reading and shopping. The most important thing to her was being involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. Ellen was blessed to see the recent birth of her first great-granddaughter.
Ellen is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Warren Owens; brother, Robert Denton; sister, Linda Joan Denton Smith; and close cousin, John Denton.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Bobby Joe Warren, of Bryan; daughters, Cynthia Lynne Owens and husband, Leo, of Bryan, and Cheryl Elaine Clark and husband, Duane, of Katy; son, Michael James Warren and wife, Theresa, of Ohio; grandchildren: Lauren Wilborne, Caitlyn Clark, Jonathan Clark, and Joshua Clark; great-granddaughter, Aelita Wilborne; close cousins, Betty Lockbridge and Pat Casas; as well numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
