Hannah and Levi were living in Saco when Levi answered the Call to Arms at Lexington. He continued to serve terms with his brothers and friends (Bunker Hill, Ticonderoga, Valley Forge). He was injured and taken to the hospital tent in Albany where he died of putrification of his leg injury).

Hannah had continued to work the farm with her sons. Uriah had moved to Leeds and was married. Hannah sent her son Phineas and daughter Hannah (married Isaac Boothby) to be with them. Records do not show but indicate that Hannah may have remained behind a few years until her father-in-law had died in 1791. She joined her boys in Leeds. (Mention of a young man and his mother living with Thomas Stinchfield family in History of Leeds, leads to believe Hannah may have been the same year helping with her son's father-in-law, the newly widowed Thomas and his children.)

Leeds records have Hannah dying Aug 27 1809 in Leeds but there is not a record of her burial. She is said to be buried with her sons in the Robert Gould (a relation) cemetery.

In 1973, the site was visited by her descendants, Harry Kern and his son, Rev. Lawrence Kern. (Harry was the son of Jane Rebecca Foss Kern, grand daughter of Phineas. Jennie had told Harry about her family home and about growing up in Leeds. Her mother's family bible indicates that Hannah rests In Knapp Cemetery.
