Son of Owen Lazear and Lydia Cade; husband of Belle Lazear. John was a carpenter. During the war between the states, John enlisted September 13, 1864 at Newark, West Virginia as a private in Company H, Sixth West Virginia Infantry. He was described as five feet, four inches tall, had a light complexion and hazel eyes. He received a pension of $15.50 per month at Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio. His daughter, Nora, was living at 237 Atwood Street in Pittsburg, PA at the time of her father's death. She was the informant on his death certificate.
