Mr. Elmer Lloyd "Dumpy" White, age 79, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 25, 1934, on Plum Creek in Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of George Elmer White & Mary Ellen (Cole) McClellan. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1954 graduate of Vevay High School. Elmer was inducted into the United States Air Force on May 26, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana, & was honorably discharged on January 23, 1959, at George Air Force Base in Victorville, California, with the rank of Airman 2nd Class, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. Elmer was united in marriage on March 28, 1960, in Switzerland County, Indiana, to Lillian M. Greene & to this union arrived a son, Dickie & a daughter, Cheryl to bless their home. He was later married on May 18, 1969, in Hammond, Indiana, to Dorothy McCormick & to this union arrived a daughter, Lisa to bless their home. Elmer was a union Steel Worker for the LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, retiring in 1996, after 37 years of service. He was a former employee of the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, & was a former Air-Traffic Controller at the Indianapolis Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana. Elmer was united in marriage on December 10, 1994 in Hammond, Indiana, to Judy Kay Hollitt. Elmer & Judy shared 30 years together until his death. After moving back to Vevay in 1996, Dumpy was a Courier for the Vevay Deposit Bank for several years. Elmer was a member of the Local 1011 Steel Workers & the Good Fellows Club in East Chicago, Indiana. He was Past Commander of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in Vevay, Indiana, where he served on the honor guard for many years. He was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ, the Florence Lodge No. 27 F&AM, the Madison Moose Lodge & the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Indiana. Elmer will be remembered for his love of gardening, especially roses, being a UK basketball fan & his beloved yorkie, Junie. Elmer died at 2:45 am, Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

McKenzie of Vevay, IN, Robert "Hardly" McKenzie of Vevay, IN; his sisters: Lona Mathews of Largo, FL, Betty Scott of Vevay, IN, Loretta Hayes of Vevay, IN; his several nieces & nephews; his beloved yorkie: Junie.

He was preceded in death by his father: George Elmer White; his son: Richard L. "Dickie" White; his granddaughter: Loni Amber Lynn Turner; his brothers: David "Buck" White, Richard "Rick" McKenzie & Lewis Edward McKenzie.
