Priscilla C. Patterson, 91, peacefully passed away October 23, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Priscilla was the loving wife and best friend of the late John Patrick Patterson, Sr. She is survived by five loving children: Jean Marie ("GiGi") Marthaler (Robert) of Sugar Grove, IL, Patrick Patterson (Clara) of Huntington Beach, CA, John Patterson Jr. (Nellie) of Arlington Heights, IL, Frances "Franny" Grund (Jack) of Flossmoor, IL, Daniel Patterson of Arlington Heights, IL, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all. Born in Chicago and raised in Boston, Priscilla found her way back to the Chicago area, where she married Jack, a decorated WWII veteran with a great sense of humor, in 1946. Priscilla taught the family that life is best approached with hope and excitement, viewing experiences through "rose-colored glasses." Throughout life's challenges, she showed us the importance of a laugh, a smile and a good attitude. Priscilla knew how to put family, friends, and faith first in life and impressed these values on her children while living in Elmhurst, IL. She was a long time parishioner and volunteer at St. Raymond's Catholic Church in Mt. Prospect. Visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Sunday, Oct. 25 from 3 to 8 p.m. Priscilla will lie in state Monday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. until time of funeral mass 10 a.m., at Saint Raymond de Penafort Catholic Church, 301 S. I-Oka in Mount Prospect, Illinois. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, 3350 West Salt Creek Lane, Unit 114, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 or Les Turner ALS Foundation 5550 W. Touhy Ave., Suite 302 Skokie, IL 60077 would be greatly appreciated. Information: 847.824.5155.
