Beloved husband of 66 years to Helen (nee Gerber); loving father of Janet Reed (Ron Blatnik), Robert, Lynn, Thomas (Debra), Timothy, Kevin (deceased), James and Michael; proud grandfather of Tracie, Kati, Jennifer, Christopher, Stefanie, Laura, Angela, Rebecca, Michael, Daniel, Bryan, Veronica and two great grandchildren Jacob and Olivia; son of the late Charles and Marie (nee Walsh); brother of Marie Wilkins (deceased). Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at JAKUBS-DANAHER FUNERAL HOME, 36000 LAKESHORE BLVD., EASTLAKE, WHERE FRIENDS WILL BE RECEIVED FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 P.M. ON THURSDAY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, 44110. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery
Robert was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Corps, he flew 45 combat missions, including the liberation of the Philippines. His nickname during service was "One Run Reed" as a result of an incident in which he disobeyed a superior officer's orders to make a second run at a target, citing that due to concerns about fuel he "only makes one run".
