John D. Throckmorton, 80 years, died Saturday, August 19, 1961, in his home at Waynesburg R. D. 4. He had been ill six weeks. Mr. Throckmorton was a son of Joseph R. and Emily Wood Throckmorton, and was born June 11, 1881, in Franklin Township. Mr. Throckmorton had spent his life in Franklin Township and was a retired farmer and thresher. He was a member of Washington Street Methodist Church, Waynesburg. Mr. Throckmorton was a member of Hoovers Run Grange No. 482, and at the time of his death held the office of overseer. He had also served Hoovers Run Grange several times as worthy master. Mr. Throckmorton was also a member of Greene County Pomona Grange and was serving as steward at the time of his death. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Grange and National Grange. Mr. Throckmorton was twice married. His first wife, Gertrude McNurlen, whom he married October 11, 1912, died December 14, 1921. On June 16, 1926, he married Flora Roupe, who survives. One sister, Mrs. Sadie Spragg, is deceased.
