Sarah was the youngest child of seven, born to Carr Waller Pritchett and Elizabeth Susan Smith in Howard County, Missouri.
She was a student in the Junior Class at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts in 1888, attended Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri from 1890 - 1891 and then attended New York State Library School from 1900 - 1901.
On the 1940 Census, dated 12 April 1940, she was listed as an Inmate, living at the Sheppard Enoch Pratt Hospital in Towson, Baltimore, Maryland.

PRITCHETT, SARAH BYRD On Monday, February 26, 1951, After a brief illness near Towson, MD., SARAH BYRD PRITCHETT. Services will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Mass. and Wis. aves. n.w., on Wednesday, February 28, at 2:30 p.m. Interment Rock Creek Cemetery.
