THELMA I. ALVORD
Thelma I. Alvord, age 86, of 515 Riverview Drive, Manitowoc, died Wednesday May 20, 2009, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Thelma was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Steve and Ingabord (Bjornson) Chadek. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. Thelma married Lloyd E. Alvord on April 4, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2006.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Ann (George) Adelman, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Jennifer (William) VanNuland, Appleton; Peter Adelman, Maine; Andrew (Hillary) Adelman, Manitowoc; two great grandchildren; Addie and Lydia VanNuland, Appleton. Nieces, nephews other relatives and frineds also survive. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Lloyd; one son: peter Guy Alvord; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Edna (Bert) Hellwich, Mary Jane (Michael) O'Hearn, Clara (Scott) Knipp, and Shirley Ann (Rusty) Strauss; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Floyd (Laura) Ruzek; Berlin (Ruth) Schroeder; two sisters-in-law: Gladys Ruzek and Ellen Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2601 S. 10th St., Manitowoc. Rev. Brian Staude will officiate. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleaum.
Relatives and friends may call at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Alvord family.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
