Mr. Stamp was timed at 157 miles an hour on the Famosa drag strip, 20 miles north of Bakersfield, just before his throttle apparently stuck and he attempted to broadside the car to a halt.
Mr. Stamp left Lincoln 30 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Lorna; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mills of Lincoln; daughters, Mrs. Earl Pollard and Mrs. Lois Phillips, both of Bakersfield; sisters, Mrs. Jack Yone and Kay Mills, both of Lincoln and Mrs. Alex Longee of Irving, Tex.; a brother, W. A. Stamp of Lincoln, and six grandchildren.
