CLEMENT BONIN
Clement Ferdinand Bonin, 82 (above), of 715 Buffalo street, machinist and inventor , and operator of a lawn mower repair shop near his home, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Bonin had been at his work as usual all last week and had not complained of feeling ill.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Shimek and Schwartz funeral home and at nine o’clock at the Sacred Heart church, the Rev. L. M. Schorn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Bonin was born in Germany in 1864 and came to this country with his parents. He made his home at Denmark, Brown county and learned the machinist trade. In 1894 he married Miss Helen Carney in Maple Grove.
They lived in Chicago, Denmark and Racine and came to this city 20 years ago.He had a hobby of model engines, tenders and cabooses of railroad trains, mounting them on tiny tracks. A machinist for 65 years, he built these models exactly to scale, down to the last nut and bolt. The last model of a locomotive he built required 18 months of spare time to complete.
In recent years Mr. Bonin set up a little machine shop on Buffalo street adjoining his home where he made a specialty of repairing lawn mowers and other household utensils. He was a member of the Holy Name society. In 1944 Mr. and Mrs. Bonin observed their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Alvin Borths and Mrs. Harold Schmitz of this city, Mrs. Paul Hartswarm of Shawano, Mrs. F. L. Osborne of Muskegon; son, C. C. Bonin of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
