Hynek, Sheldon C.

Sheldon C. Hynek, age 73, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Sheldon was born on September 25, 1941 in Kellnersville to the late Joseph and Mildred Lensmeyer Hynek. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959. Sheldon enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. On October 26, 1963, Sheldon married Marie Schiesl in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2006. Sheldon retired from Weyerhauser Company after many years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who never missed an opportunity to spend his time outdoors up north.

Survivors include Sheldon's three children: Mike Hynek and his special friend, Denise Dietz, Appleton; Chris Hynek, Racine; and Lisa (Mike) Willman, Manitowoc; grandson: Collin Willman, Manitowoc; sister: Janet Alcock, Appleton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Ronald (Carol) Schiesl, Eugene (Linda) Schiesl, Diane (Gerald) Schmidt, Carol (Dale) Holly, and Sharon (Fred) Jehle; special friend: Jane Mueller; his beloved beagle: Lady; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marie; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herbert and Delphine Schiesl; sister and brother-in-law: Sharon and Norman Grotback; brother-in-law: Gerald Schiesl; and nephew: Scott Grotback.

Per Sheldon's wishes, a private Life Celebration Social will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Entombment of Sheldon's cremated remains will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum.
