Michael Nicholas Seminoff (Mihail Nikolaevich Seminishev) was born May 15, 1901 in Kars, Russia and died February 22, 1965 in El Dorado, California. He married Jennie Petrovna Tolmasoff sometime before 1920, according to the 1920 census. At that time Mike was a seaman on a boat in Portland, Oregon. Interestingly, the 1934 San Francisco city directory shows him working as a stevedore and at his death, his last occupation was a longshoreman. Mike died of gastric carcinoma and a ruptured abdominal aneurysm.
Son Nick went to Commerce High School and played football. He graduated and earned a football scholarship at St. Mary's College. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp intending to stay until his enlistment was finished. He re-enlisted and eventually retired twenty-six years later as a Lt. Colonel. He served in the Korean War and was stationed in Korea during the war. After retirement, he and his wife Doris lived in Modesto, California. Nick's son David is a 6th grade school teacher and loves teaching. Daughter Stephanie works for the Bank of America in San Francisco, California as a Computer Engineer. She graduated from University of California at Berkeley with two Masters degrees. She has been an usher for the opera house and does sculling, works as an official and travels all over the USA for competitions.
Daughter Pearl died at the age of twelve years old. She died August 5, 1934 in Los Angeles. She and her sister Vera were at Lake Elsinore visiting their Aunt Anna Tolmasoff Andrews. While wading in deep water, Pearl lost her footing and went under water and drowned.
Daughter Vera was born September 3, 1924 in Los Angeles. Nothing is known about her life, except that she had three daughters. Daughter Sharon lives in Hawaii and works for the Catholic Diocese; daughter Deborah is a doctor.
