Funeral service for Hoyt L. Cook, 81, of Etoile, will be held Friday, December 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Rev. Glenn Morton of Pine Park United Pentecostal Church in Bronson and Rev. Ronnie Frankens of Homer United Pentecostal Church, will be officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.

Mr. Hoyt Cook passed away Tuesday, December 19, in Etoile, Texas. Born January 28, 1925 in Etoile, Texas, he was the son of Amos Cook and Etta Mae Morton Cook and they preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Etta Pyle Cook on May 6, 2004, a son, Robert Gale Cook, and two grandsons, Don Parker and Hoyt Wesley Cook.

Mr. Hoyt was a member of the Homer United Pentecostal Church and the VFW Post 3893. He attended school in Etoile and was a graduate of the G.I. Agricultural School. He was a member of the Etoile ISD school board from 1957 to 1975. He retired from Woden I.S.D. as a bus driver in 1990. He had worked for the County of Nacogdoches, worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and worked in the woods. He had been a poultry farmer, avid hunter and a trapper. His love was farming and ranching. He was also a member of the Chireno Fox Hunters Association.

Surviving Mr. Cook are his son, Elvin Cook and wife Carolyn of Etoile; daughters, Linda Whisenant and husband Gerald and Julia Henson and husband Kent, all of Lufkin, Wanda Sue Pillows and husband Herman of Centralia/Apple Springs, Rhonda Cook of Willis, Gwenda Britt and husband Roy, Brenda Whitton and husband Billy, Glenda Jean Chambers and husband Scotlin; step-daughter, Barbara Holloway and husband Bill and daughter-in-law, Sherron Cook, all of Etoile; brothers, Neil Cook and Wayne Cook and wife Darlene all of Etoile; sisters, Lila Pyle of Apple Springs and Darce Cook of Etoile; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Ben Pyle and wife Ellen of Apple Springs and Judd Pyle, Sr. all of Apple Springs, D.L. and Trudi Pyle of Groveton and Anzo Richardson and husband Kent of Lufkin; 30 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Also special friends; doctors, Bryan Davis, Kelly Moon and many many others.

Pallbearers will be Larry Pyle, Jerry Pyle, Dwayne Davenport, Kenneth Wooten, Lawson Wooten and Darren Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Patterson, Corey Lowery, Jody Lowery, Lester Lowery, Elvin (Buddy) Lowery, Garvis Whitehead, Jackie Stewart, John Stricklen, Jachob Poulan and Chester Ables.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, December 21, 2006. Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
