JOHN MEYER
(1885 - 1965)

John P. Meyer, 79, retired Manitowoc county farmer, died Friday morning at home, 1216 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc. He had been in ill health two years.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. A. E. Radey will officiate and burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mr. Meyer was born May 26, 1885, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Henry and Anna Zinkel Meyer. He attended Rockwood and Francis Creek Schools. He operated the Meyer homestead farm east of Rockwood from 1908 until he retired in 1950 and moved to Manitowoc.

Mr. Meyer, who married Cecelia Hassemer Oct. 10, 1911, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek, was a member of Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. The couple observed the golden anniversary of the wedding in 1961.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles of Manitowoc and Julius of Engelwood, Calif..; five daughters, Mrs. Alvin F. (Ann) Cisler, Mrs. Arnold (Cecelia Strouf), and Mrs. Paul (Florence) Wellner of Manitowoc, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Zahorik of Two Rivers, and Mrs. Gerald (Viola) Schroeder of Greenleaf; a brother, Walter of Rt. 4, Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Peter Massman and Mrs. William Ziebell of Manitowoc and Mrs. Oscar Terens of Mishicot, and 24 grandchildren. A son Edmund died in 1961 and two brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by Holy Name Society and at 8 o'clock by Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
