JOSEPH EMIL GINTNER
(1938 - 2012)
Joseph Emil Gintner, age 73, of Reedsville, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, November 27th, 2012.
He was born on December 30th, 1938 in the same home where he passed away. Son of the late Louis and Clara (Wallander) Gintner. Joe was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic Grade School of Clarks Mills and attended Valders High School until he took over the family farm. On Sept. 1st, 1962, he married Rosemary Zunker at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Joe and Rosie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this fall in the presence of many family members and life-long friends.
Joe was a member of the men's Holy Name Society of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, an active member of the Clarks Mills, Whitelaw, and Pine River Sportsmen's clubs, Carstens Lake and Harpt's Lake Associations. He was awarded Lifetime Memberships in Wisconsin Deer Hunters, Clarks Mills Sportsman Club, and Manitowoc Fish and Game. Joe was also one of the founders of the Hooked on a Hobby fishing tournament at Long Lake which gives kids a chance to get out on boats to fish and introduce them to the sport he loved so much.
Joe served as the town chairman for the Town of Cato for 20 years and was a long time columnist in the Valders Journal with his "Outdoor Report" where he enjoyed talking about his love of the outdoors and keeping everyone informed of upcoming events in the local area. It is also where he got to tell everyone his favorite "Ole and Lena" jokes. Joe was an avid volunteer, spending many hours on community service projects and helping out anyone that was in need. He especially enjoyed delivering fresh fillets to family and friends after spending the day on the lake with his son Joe and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife: Rosemary Gintner, his children: Darlene and Keith Mannebach, Appleton, Joseph Gintner and Debbie Brandt, Reedsville, Marlene and Dean Miller, DePere, Michelle and Chadd Kernz, Manitowoc, and Kristin and Bob Zipperer, Reedsville. Nine grandchildren: Carmen, Troy, Brett, Colin, Christina, Cole, Rachel, Brayden, and Claire and one great-grandson Samuel Joseph. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Janet and Al Braun, Whitelaw, Gail and Norbie Braun, Whitelaw, Mary and Neil Hillstrom, Fremont. Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Louis Gintner and Carol, of Argonne, WI, Paul and Roseann Gintner, Valders. Seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Dorothy Gintner, Whitelaw, Shirley Gintner, Hartford, Donna Gintner, Manitowoc, Dorothy Gintner, Manitowoc, Diane and Kenny Decker, Manitowoc, Jeannie Zunker, Janesville, Roger and Lynn Zunker, Two Rivers. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Clara Gintner, two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Angeline and Izzy Mahloch, Florence and Emil Tienor. Five brothers: Earl, Kenny, Leo, Richard, and Jack.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Zimmerman. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Joseph will be laid to rest at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 1:00 p.m Monday, December 3, 2012 until 3:45 p.m.

Grandpa Joe will be greatly missed by his family, by his hunting and fishing buddies, his cribbage and sheepshead partners, and by everyone who knew him.
Throughout his life, Joe donated gallons of his blood. He continued this mission in death by donating his organs to help others.
