Sports Broadcaster. For more than five decades he was known as the voice of Motor Racing Network’s NASCAR auto races. Hall began his career in radio on a station in Elkin, North Carolina, in 1958 and called his first Daytona 500 race on the air in 1960. Picking up a few jobs as a sportscaster and speedway public address announcer, the work led to he being the lead anchor of MRN NASCAR races since 1970. For many years he was a familiar sight on speedways across the country, conducting interviews with all the top drivers at NASCAR and Sprint Cup races. Hall called his final race at Daytona International Speedway on July 5, 2014, but remained active in NASCAR as a special contributor on radio and TV broadcasts. He was inducted into the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame in 2007, NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2012 and is one of only two to receive the Squier Hall Award, NASCAR Hall of Fame's highest honor for media. He died at age 83 from complications following a recent medical procedure.
