(1933 - 2016)

James R. Boeldt, age 82 of Manitowoc died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Born October 19, 1933 in Two Rivers, Jim was the son of the late Lester and Evelyn (Dufek) Boeldt. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was proud to be among a select group of men to graduate from jump school and then went on to serve with the 82nd Air Borne Division. Jim returned to Manitowoc in 1957 and married the former Barbara LaFleur at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc on January 30, 1959.

Jim worked at the Manitowoc Public Utilities for 35 years. He was an accomplished athlete throughout his life and recognized in football, basketball and track. He was Fox River Valley All Conference Football and served as captain of his basketball team. He played semi-pro football with the Manitowoc Chiefs for seven seasons and was recognized in the Tri-State League as Defensive End and enjoyed recreational softball for many years after that. Not only a player, he coached basketball at St. Andrew Catholic School for several years in the 1970s with his good friend Jerry Kiel. Golf was a sport enjoyed at home and on vacation in North Carolina where they enjoyed annual trips for more than 20 years. His two man golf league at Meadow Links was a weekly event for many years as were his regular breakfast "meetings" with friends 2-3 times a week. He was a member of Van's Athletic Club for more than 57 years. He loved life, he loved his family, he loved his friends and he loved celebrating Christmas.

He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 56 years; children, Sharon Boeldt (Milwaukee) and Mike Boeldt (San Diego); brother, Deacon Alan Boeldt; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Ralph Elliot; and sister-in-law, Lois Propst (Missouri). He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Kay Boeldt; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Bill Propst and Charles and Lois LaFleur.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, (1416 Grand Ave.). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. followed by entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
