The son of a traveling salesman & the nephew of a real estate broker in Springfield, Cowgill was a bookkeeper, but made his fortune in the grain business in Springfield.

Six other family members are buried in this Cowgill family mausoleum.

Frank Sayre Cowgill of Chicago, former resident of Springfield, died suddenly Saturday night at Skokie Country club, near Chicago. Funeral services will be held in Springfield at a later date. Winston Cowgill, a son, is now traveling in Europe and final interment will be delayed until his arrival in this country, the remains being placed in a vault in Chicago pending the son's arrival.

Mr. Cowgill was born in Springfield in 1866, studying in the Springfield public schools. He was emloyed by the R. F. Herndon company as a bookkeeper. Later he entered the grain business and served as manager of the Trans-Mississippi Grain company at Omaha, Neb., for several years.

In 1894 he was appointed vice president of the Bartlett-Frazier company at Chicago, occupying this position until his death.
