Vice president of the Farmers National Bank, deacon in First Christian Church. Died at family residence, 619 South Sixth street. Survived by wife, sons Harry of Wayne county and John of Springfield; daughters Mrs. W. P. Hopkins of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. W. J. Brown of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers James of Pleasant Plains and William T. of Gardnertown, Ill.; sisters Mrs. W. J. Hurt and Miss Sarah A. Gardner, both of Pleasant Plains.
Hiram moved with his family as a child to Illinois. Early education in Sangamon County and as a youth helped his father in farm work. On 6-17-1857, in St. Louis, he married Louisa Brown and they had one son, Edwin B., 9/27/1858 - 7/13/1873. Louisa died 7/23/1859. He married in Sangamon County, Ill., Miss Harriet Bradford. They had four children: Louisa B., Harriet M., Harry B., and John. After Harriet's death, he married Mrs. Adeline Barney Post who survived him.
Hiram represented Gardner township on the County Board of Supervisors and was engaged in farming most of his life, living on his farm outside of Springfield until his last few years.
