RETIRED FARMER DIES EARLY THIS MORNING
John M. Roach, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chester Mock, residing at 1805 South K Street, at 5 o'clock this morning a complication of diseases, after a few weeks illness.
Mr. Roach removed to this city five years ago from a farm south of Frankton and during his residence here made a large number of friends who held him in the highest esteem. His death will cause sadness to a number of persons.
He was married forty-one years ago to Miss Isabella Chalfant, who died about nineteen years ago. Surviving are nine children, Mrs. Chester [Leona] Mock and Mrs. Joshua Reiger [Rigor] of Elwood; Mrs. John Barber of Pataskala, Ohio; Ed Roach of Anderson; Mrs. Elmer [Nettie] Brattain, north of Elwood; Fred Roach, of Alexandria; Mrs. Everett [Myrtle] Butler, east of Elwood; Frank Roach and Mrs. Lloyd [Hazel] Jones of flint, Michigan.
He was a member of the First M. E. church here and the Elwood Masonic lodge.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First M. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. M. C. Wright, followed by burial in the city cemetery in charge of the masons.
