Mr. Richard E. Cundith, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, in Marietta, Ga. He was 71.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Covenant United Methodist Church with Dr. Hays McKay and the Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Additional services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Sterling Community Cemetery in Sterling, Kan. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Saturday prior to service time.

Richard was born in Sterling, Kan., on June 22, 1937, to John and Eula Cundith, the ninth of twelve children. He attended high school in Sterling, Kan., where he met his future wife, Nancy.
Richard attended Emporia State Teachers College, where he received his degree in accounting. After college, he received his CPA Certification and began his lifelong career as an accountant. After several years in private practice he took a position at COVAN/COLEMAN American Companies where he worked for over 40 years prior to his semi-retirement.
Despite various challenges over a number of years, Richard kept a positive attitude. He was known for his quick wit and really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking, having been the son of a carpenter.
Richard was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Richard is predeceased by three brothers, Tom Cundith, Harry Cundith and Horace Cundith.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Cundith of Dothan; a son, Tim Cundith and wife, Kelli of Dothan and their children, Chase, Gabe and Caroline; a daughter, Tiffany Whittington and husband, Chris and their children, James, Jillian and Jordan; a son, Curtis Cundith and his son, Topher; brothers and sisters, John and Carolyn of Tulsa, Okla., Joyce Deegan of Tehachapi, Calif., Anna Mae Alexander of Altus, Okla., Flo and Bill Pearson of Lufkin, Texas, Betty and Tyson Willson of Carpinteria, Calif., Bob Cundith of Sterling, Kan., Judy and Bob Fulton of Sterling, Kan., Barbara and Rod Engelland of Shawnee, Kan.
