Aug. 28, 1937 - Feb. 21, 2009
ELKHART - Arno Balmer, 71, of Elkhart, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, February
21, in his home surrounded by his family. Arno was born on August 28, 1937, in
Mishawaka, to the late Arno and Grace (Briet) Balmer. He was also preceded in death
by his wife, Bonnie (Bierly) Balmer, who passed away on June 13, 1999. He is
survived by his sons, Gregory Balmer of Chicago and Douglas Balmer of Mishawaka;
two granddaughters, Haley and Samantha. He is also survived by one brother, Charles
(Maria) Balmer of Walkerton; and three sisters, JoAnn McEndarfer of Walkerton, Rosie
(David) Fletcher of Walkerton and Barbara (Donald) Wringer of Hamlet, IN. Arno
proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He
was a little league coach for many years as well as on many local golf and bowling
leagues, and was an avid fisherman. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, February 25, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway,
Osceola. Cremation will follow and burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery,
Walkerton, at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at
