He was born in Haywood County, NC on May 24, 1934 and was a son of the late Harvey Emmit Mashburn and Margretta Smiley Mashburn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Mashburn. Jim was an avid fisherman, and he loved to sing.
His kind heart and gentle nature will be lovingly remembered by his son, John Mashburn and his wife, Cindy, of Marion; a brother, Harvey Mashburn, Jr. and his wife, Hazel, of Morganton; his sisters, Sharon Crisp, Hazel Mashburn, Dorothy Buchanan all of Morganton, Geneva Penson of Rutherfordton; Thelma Morton and her husband, Alex, of Glen Alpine; and Gladys Bowen of Marion; grandsons, Michael James Mashburn and Aaron Lee Mashburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
