Eugene J. Christel, age 81, of 202 West Court, St. Nazianz, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2004, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Appleton.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, 1500 Highway 310, Manitowoc. Deacon Paul Kiefer will officiate. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Eugene was born April 19, 1923 in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Rose Bushman Christel. He married the former Carol Muellenbach on Nov. 28, 1951, in the town of Charlestown. Eugene was a road maintenance supervisor for the town of Liberty for 25 years. He served as town of Eaton Chairman, County Supervisor and Manitowoc County Fair Secretary. He enjoyed farming, hunting and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Imelda Christel.
