Aunt Lila was a lifelong resident of Greenville County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late D.G. and Lydia Anne Edwards Smith and wife of Clifford M. Owens. For a brief period Aunt Lila and Uncle Cliff made their home in Ware Shoals, South Carolina where Uncle Cliff worked for the Regal Textile Group in Ware Shoals before moving back to Greenville in the City View Section of Greenville County.

Aunt Lila passed away at a local hospital in Greenville County. Aunt Lila was a member of Monahan Baptist Church and the Philathea Class of the Sunday School.

Aunt Lila was survived by her husband, Clifford Owens from Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Smith Mosteller, Mrs. Lydia Belle Hoxitt both from Greenville; three brothers, Noah Smith, Marvin Smith and Naaman Smith all from Greenville. Uncle Cliff and Aunt Lila had no children.

Services were held at Monaghan Baptist Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold E. Jones officiating followed by internment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, South Carolina.
