Bedford Pioneer Dies in Logan
Mrs Elizabeth R. Turner Hinck Izatt, 83, a Star Valley pioneer, died in Logan Friday, May 11. She was born in West Jordan, Utah Oct 20, 1872 to William A. and Mary Elizabeth Gardner Turner. At the age of 18 she moved to Bedford and lived there until1895. He died March 9, 1904 and she married Alexander George Izatt in 1913 in the temple, also. He died Jan 19, 1934.
She raised families by both of about 16 years ago, when she moved to Logan. She lived alone and was active until the day she died.
She married andrew F, Hinck in the Logan Temple Sept 25, her husbands and was always an active member of the LDS Church. In her later years she did a lot of temple work. In recent years she gained recognition and fame in Cache Valley giving demonstrations to schools and special groups on how to operate a spinning wheel. She was featured a few years ago in a special story including a picture in the Logan Herald Journal which was also published in the Star Valley Independent, about her skill with a spinning wheel. She gave her last demonstration about three weeks ago.
She was scheduled to ride on a special float with her spinning wheel in a centennial celebration parade this summer.
Funeral services were held in the Bedford Ward Chapel Wednesday, May 16, with Norville Fluckiger officiating. Services had been held at the Hall Nortuary in Logan Tuesday. Burial was in the Bedford Cemetery (not right).
Survivors include the following children; Mrs Thomas (Elizabeth) Perkins, Logan; Reuben F. Hinck Oden, Ark.; M. L. Hinck, Bedford; Mrs Ann Johnson, Salt Lake City; George A. Izatt, Ririe Idaho; Rawla Izatt, Afton; Mrs Arvid (Lillie) Peterson, Clearfield; 39 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; two brothers, Rawsel E. Turner, Turnerville; and Robert H. Turner, Oregon. One son and a daughter preceded her in death.
