(Special to the Gazette) Schoolcraft, Mich., Aug. 1.—J. W. Briggs was born in Schoolcraft, Jan. 29, 1882 and after spending his life in the town of his birth, passed away of hemorrhage Tuesday, after an illness of a few weeks. Mr. Briggs had been in the drug business for thirty-live years in the same building on Grand street. His only brother, Charles, was in the drug business with him for a number of years and then went into the grocery business. Besides his widow, a daughter, Lucile, survives. Mr. Briggs has been a director of the Kalamazoo County Sate bank since it was reorganized In 1908 and was vice president at the time of his death. Kalamazoo Gazette Aug 1 1917 page 2
