Richard W. Payne, 74, of 1977 E. Prairie avenue, died at 2:40 a.m. today in St. Mary's hospital.
He had lived in Decatur all his life and was a retired office worker for the Decatur Bottling Co.
Mr. Payne was born June 6, 1885 in Decatur, a son of Mr. & Mrs. John Payne.
He was married to Carrie Litzner in 1905; she died in 1946.
He leaves four sons, Larry J., Roger E., B.J. and Richard C., all of Decatur; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Arrowsmith of Champaign; a sister, Mrs. Hattrie Bromley of Decatur; a brother, Harry B. Payne of Decatur and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
